It happened 40 years ago this week.

It's 40 years ago since the 1973 release of Bo Diddley's last single release for Chess Records: "Don't Want No Lyin' Woman"/"Make A Hit Record" (Chess CH 2142). Both tracks were lifted from 1973's "The London Bo Diddley Sessions" album, his penultimate for Chess. A prime slice of brassy blues funk, "Don't Want No Lyin' Woman" was also the swansong for the lovely Cookie (1948 - 1999), who shares lead vocals with Bo Diddley on the track. She had joined the band in 1966 and left in 1973 to marry and to start a family.
